Apprenticeship Programme

Purpose of the programme-

The Sri Lanka Law College apprenticeship program allows students to get hands-on experience in the legal sector.

Before applying for enroll in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, all students who have passed the Attorneys-at-Law final year examination and are eligible for the apprenticeship MUST complete a Practical Training Course (PTC) offered by the Sri Lanka Law College and serve an apprenticeship period of at least six months under the supervision of a lawyer with at least eight (8) years of experience in the legal profession.

This program is a requirement under Rule 36 of the Council of Legal Education.

Advantages of this program

This programme is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the legal profession. It covers a spectrum of legal areas ensuring that the apprentices are well prepared for multifaceted challenges that they may encounter in their future careers. The apprentices engage with clients, participate in legal research, and witness courtroom proceedings to achieve an understanding of the legal profession beyond the confines of textbooks.
